I was so lucky to get to fly over to the Big Island and photograph Eli and Kristin’s wedding. The big day was held at the Hapuna Prince Hotel and Resort. You could really tell how much time was spent planning this wedding cause all the details were amazing.
Almost as soon as I arrived at the resort I started taking photos. Eli and Kristin, their friends and family were so much fun and I think as a result we got so many amazing photos. We started pictures at about 10:30am and didn’t stop til about 10:30pm. We had so much time to tour the Hotel and pick little spots for pics. In the end I got so many I like I posted a lot of them right here down below. I will post some reception photos later but for now I hope you enjoy what came from such an unbelievable day.

Bryan + Jessie

Words can’t really describe the fun that we had during our engagement session. Could it have been that when Bryan and Jessie showed up they looked like they walked off the set of the movie Pearl Harbor? Or it could possibly be that they are a couple of the coolest kids ever!!!
With Bryan being in the Navy and Jessie a flight attendant it seems like their story should have taken place in 1940 old Hawaii. Luckily it took place in 2011 and I had the pleasure of being a part of their super fun engagement session at Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu. Thanks so much Bryan and Jessie!!!

Ryan + Lori

Ryan, Lori and their family left the great state of Washington to come to Hawaii and get hitched at the Byodo-in Temple on Oahu’s East side. They left rainy Washington and got rainy Oahu:( BUT we had a ton of fun anyway. The Temple is a really cool place to tie the knot and offers up so many options for photos. The whole family was color coordinated and definitely made the day a lot brighter than it actually was weather wise. We started off the day with a first look and in between dodging the rain had an amazing ceremony and got full use of the grounds for photos. Here’s a couple of my favorite shots. Thanks Ryan and Lori!!!

At the end of every wedding at the Temple there is always a ringing of the bell. Then a little alone time:)

Morgan + Anna

Morgan and Anna are from the land down under. This land is known for it’s insane surf, huge sharks and Steve Irwin the crocodile hunter. They exchanged vows in front of friends and family at the Hilton Hawaiian Villages Crystal Chapel. Everyone was so nice and no one seemed to mind when I tried to speak with my Aussie accent. Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi!!!

This is Grayson’s third photo session with me and I had so much fun!!! He makes the most amazing faces that I had to do a little face collage. We had a lot of fun right outside his Mom’s and Pop’s house. Let the good times roll!!!

Seriously these shots make me laugh so hard. Like I said Brenna looked at me like I was crazy when I told them the idea but I think it’s why we got so many good reactions:) Josh’s parents were at the shoot and I could see them laughing pretty hard so I know someone was having fun. I had so much fun on this shoot with these guys! Josh is originally from Kaneohe which made our location at Chinaman’s hat with the Koolau mountains in the background so appropriate. Our photo shoot was scheduled for the day after Christmas and with all the rain we got over the holidays we were all wondering if this day was going to work. With a little bit of hope and some finger crossing the sun peaked out and let us have so fun.
I’m definitely going to say the pictures at the end of this post are my favorites:) Brenna looked at me like I was crazy when I pitched the idea and in the end I think everyone had some fun with it. Thanks guys for an amazing time!

Steve + Jane Do

This is probably going to be one of many water sessions with Mr + Mrs Do! Jane is my sister-in-law and Steve is her better half:), Just kidding Jane. The day started out great. We pulled into Bowls parking lot mid day and after driving around for 20 minutes I scored a stall. Jane and Steve were not so lucky and had to drive around a little more. After getting out of my car and grabbing my camera and water housing I realized that I didn’t bring my swim fins:(, “no worries” I say. After going to find Steve and Jane I hear Jane yelling at Steve:( ” Angry Korean!” I say, and change direction to go and wait at the beach. After a bit Steve and Jane show up with smiles on their faces and I laugh, ” Good times all around” I say:)! We are out there and the conditions are small and almost glassy. The swim out wasn’t as bad as I thought without the fins and Steve and Jane are talking and laughing, “Thinks are looking good” I say. With some minor limitations to position myself in the waves for the best shot Steve and Jane proceed to have an amazing session with little to no one out at Rockpiles. Considering the size of the waves it turned out to be such an amazing time. I really can’t wait to get out again with these guys real soon.
I shot these photos with an SPL waterhousing, canon eos a2(film) camera with a 15mm fisheye lense. I used fuji pro 160 print film. I love film!!! No editing to the photos, just scanned the negs.

The Grechi Family

Bianca is one of the fab four of the Grechi Family, and the one who contacted me to do a family portrait session. She just graduated from UH Manoa and had her immediate family as well as extended family from Venezuela were here to celebrate. They weren’t really into the standard family portrait and I think we did a great job steering clear of that. Instead we got a lot of jumping and funny faces. It was such a good time and the beach in Kailua was a perfect location to let loose. Check out some of the photos below of our good time!

Clover + the Lense Cap

I was just browsing my family photo library and just came across these shots. These were taken when Chloe was about 18 months and it’s crazy to see how much she has grown since then(she is 3 1/2 now). These were all shot with film and it really makes me miss working with good ole fashion black and white. She is such a fun kid and really my whole word revolves around her. I love you Clover Kini!!!
